Somehow in the early, cold winter days of 2019, Wendy managed to convince April and myself (Gary) that it would be a good idea to join in on her quest to hike the ENTIRE Buckeye trail in Ohio. Not knowing what was involved we naturally agreed. Not sure how we will all hold up over 1444 miles but we are willing to give it a try, so here goes!
And about our blog name, we are happy to use an old-fashioned word describing our preferred speed of travel. We do not plan on doing any trail running, timed section hikes, Fit-Bit driven exercise regimens or whatever else. We are happy to creep along the trails, enjoy the journey and our friendship.
Greetings everyone, It was very nice meeting you along the Buckeye Trail passing through the Richfield Heritage Preserve, formerly Camp Julia Crowell-Hilaka, in Richfield, Summit county. Having worked on various sections of the Buckeye Trail with the Crooked River Chapter and having hiked many of the Buckeye Trail sections myself, i know as do all of you how beautiful the trail is. We are very happy and proud of the section we cut through the Richfield Heritage Preserve with the help of many Buckeye Trail and non-member volunteers. Perhaps we will meet again. Happy hiking!!!
Hi again Clive! Thanks for all your hard work in the park and on the BT. Knew nothing of park history and came away impressed and educated. There is a lot of roadwork on this section of BT, so any meander through the woods is an oasis, even in the winter!
