Medina 28+ – 26 (12/13/20)

Started our official hike along the northern Medina BT today, although we had done a few sections already within Richfield Heritage and Hinckley parks. Began in CVNP almost at Deer Lick Cave and headed west along a muddy trail. Early part of our conversation centered on why we were hiking in the mud while an asphalt trail along park road was only 20 yards away going in the same direction? Without a resolution to our debate, we ended up on the asphalt trail eventually as we left Brecksville Reservation in CVNP. Then our conversation turned to Robin, who has been with us so often that we should include her as a new member of the team- WELCOME! Typical NE Ohio weather today, clammy, cold and grey with an occasional snow flurry; but despite all that we can honestly say we ALL enjoy this hiking day out of the house, being outdoors and moving about. Even today, which was largely along pretty busy roads with not much to look at. There are still lingering political lawn signs, with Trump > Biden by 7:1 by my count… lets see how long they last. I don’t think the signs remain because they are forgotten. This hike went by surprisingly fast and easy, and it is nice that we don’t have to spend so much time getting to our starting point. We intend to keep going west and sometime before years end April and I will finish the last Akron section to complete the ‘Little Loop’. That will give us another positive accomplishment to look back upon to soften this otherwise challenging and anxious year.
